I AM A BUSKER
Every now and then I come across poetry about busking or about musical saw playing. This time a poem was sent to me. And not only was it sent to me, but it was writen especially with me in mind!
I AM A BUSKER/Janina Jayme
I AM A BUSKER..WITHIN MY HEART AND SOUL..TO BUSKER OR NOT..ONLY ONE WAY TO GO…
FOR BUSKERING I WAS BORN TO SHARE THE SPIRIT OF MY BEING…CLOSE MY EYES..CREATE
MY MUSIC..SOUND OF MELODIES HEALING..HEALING ALL THE ILLS AROUND..SMILING FACES
ABSORB MY SOUNDS..TO BRING ABOUT ANOTHER STORY….GROWING FROM MY SAW OF GLORY..
HUSTLE,BUSTLE, I’LL KEEP ON PLAYING…OH GLORIOUS SAW IN VOICE YOU’RE SAYING…TO WARM
AND TOUCH MY HUMANITY…WITH NOT A TWINGE OF VANITY…I THANK THE HEAVENS FOR EVERY
MORN…FOR EACH BUSKING DAY THAT IS BORN…
(written especially for Natalia Paruz from Janina Jayme)

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, Janina for the beautiful poem, and Arianys for the beautiful photo!
The poem is very sweet, but it’s full of embarrassing grammatical errors. The verb is “to busk”, not “to busker”, and “busker” is the person not the action, so “TO BUSKER OR NOT” should be “TO BUSK OR NOT” and “FOR BUSKERING I WAS BORN” should be “FOR BUSKING I WAS BORN”. Also “I THANK THE HEAVEN’S” should be “I THANK THE HEAVENS”, no apostrophe. Finally, on the Internet, writing in all caps means that you are shouting.

Dear James,
Thank-you for your input…In reference to the word heavens you are correct I did make an error.. no apostrophe needed…Also buskering should be busking but the work busker was used with poetic license. The word busk would not flow like I intended..I often use caps for an emotional effect
and strong affirmation…When writing this poem about Natalia I wanted the readers to feel the emotion a busker must feel when performing for one person or the masses…Their entire being must shout out…The capitals were intended..Poetic license once more…Thank-you again…
Hi, SawLady! GREAT blog! I live in TX, but my dad lives in NYC and I have seen you several times over the years when visiting. It’s really fun to see saw-playing live. Keep it up!
Question: My 12-year old daughter is doing several dance and theater intensives in NYC this summer. She and her friend (age 13) would like to do some busking. My daughter plays the electric guitar and sings (very well – not typical kid stuff) and both she and her friend are expert tap dancers.
What are the ins-and-outs of this?
Any advise from an expert and professional such as yourself would be greatly appreciated, and I hope that we get a chance to see you play somewhere this summer.
-thanks! Rachel.
